The Sharon Temple National Historic Site & Museum is excited to welcome a new sculpture to our grounds! Preserving a historic 200-year old sugar maple tree in the form of a carved sculpture, we're pleased to present the Hope & Truth Reflection Garden - designed by Anishinaabe artist Donald Chrétien and sculptor Shane Clodd, in consultation with the Chippewas of Georgina Island. This event culminates a nearly two-year long project that represents a commitment to support and to encourage equitable partnerships amongst settlers and Indigenous people. The completion of this project will be celebrated with a grand opening and unveiling of the sculpture on September 8th, from 5:00pm - 7:00pm, featuring an Indigenous vendors market, free samplings of traditional Indigenous foods, entertainemnt, and children's crafts. 

The museum hopes that the addition of the Hope & Truth Reflection Garden will serve as a permanent reminder that Truth and Reconciliation is an ongoing process; and that the garden can provide a safe and welcoming space for community members to participate in that process.
