Job Duration: 12 weeks, 35 hours per week

General Description:

The Sharon Temple National Historic Site and Museum is an open-air museum with 8 heritage buildings and two interpretive buildings on-site. The ideal candidate has an interest in recreation and education with programming experience in camp environments. The ideal candidate will be able to supervise others, be energetic, creative and a self-starter, with excellent customer service and organizational skills.

Primary Job Functions:

- Prepare and implement six weeks of day camp programs for ages 7-12 themed about baking, sciences, history and physical activity, including evaluation measures.

- Supervise and lead two other staff members, be responsible for up to 30 children while providing creative and safe camp environments.

- Maintain an organized and planned schedule for children and staff to follow.

- Track attendance, forms, and children’s information including bus drop off and pick up lists.

- Maintain positive communication between, campers, parents, managers, partnering groups, and staff throughout all weeks.

General Duties:

- Provide interpretation to the public through tours, education and outreach programs.

- Special events and program preparation.

- Assist staff with daily attendance tracking, gift shop inventory, and cash balancing.

- Provide support as needed to other staff members.

- Other tasks, as required.


- Two years of previous camp experience, preferably one year in a supervisor role.

- Currently enrolled or graduated from post-secondary studies in a related field, such as Education, Early Childhood Education, or Recreation and Leisure.

- The ideal candidate will have an interest in the career fields of Education or Recreation and Leisure.

- Previous experience working with the public in a structured setting, in a paid and/or volunteer capacity.

- Ability to handle multiple priorities.

- Ability to deal with difficult and confidential situations.

- Candidate must be between the ages of 15-30 and legally entitled to work in Canada.

- Must possess or be willing to train for Standard First Aid and CPR.

- Must possess or be willing to obtain a Vulnerable Sectors Screening.

- Be prepared to work a variety of shifts, including weekends, and evenings.

Physical Requirements:

The Sharon Temple National Historic Site and Museum is located north of Toronto on 4.5 acres. As this is a large site with multiple buildings, the candidate will be required to move between these buildings and around the site as needed to conduct various activities.
